Karen Filsmyer

Karen Jean Filsmyer, age 81, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2022, after battling with dementia for several years. She was born December 19, 1940, in Pequot Lakes, MN, to Howard and Carrie (Shaw) Schmidt. Karen loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed playing softball, cards, dominos, scrapbooking and puzzles.

Karen will be greatly missed by her children: Keith Filsmyer (Darlene), Gayleen Filsmyer, Gina Filsmyer and Kevin Filsmyer; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; her siblings: Joyce (Albert), James (Randi), Cary (Anita), Tommie and Kenneth (Shirley). She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Carrie Schmidt; her siblings: Duwayne, Sherene, Kathleen, and Darlene; 2 infant sisters; and her granddaughter, Cedie Bug.

Karen is now able to laugh, tell jokes, play cards with her siblings and dance with Cedie Bug. We love and miss you, Mom!

Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, August 13, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
