Charles Fields

January 24, 1937 — January 10, 2019

Charles Edward Fields, age 81, of Crosby, MN, passed away on January 10, 2019, at Woodland Good Samaritan in Brainerd, MN, after a long-fought battle with cancer. He spent his last days surrounded by love and family. Chuck was born on January 24, 1937, in his aunt Hazel’s Café in Wilmar, MN, during the blizzard of ’37. He was born to Frederick Louis Fields and Leta Marie (Kohl) Fields and was the third of five children. He married the love of his life, Kathleen Joy Coveney, on May 2, 1959. They enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and fishing with friends and relatives. Chuck was an avid dancer and well known in the senior dancing community. His favorite places to visit were the Rocky Mountains, Northern Minnesota and the Southwest US. Chuck had 49 years of sobriety which he took immense pride in.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Leta; brother, Marvin; and sister, Carolyn Gunderson. Left behind to cherish many memories are his wife of 59 years, Kathleen; daughter, Kary Montour (Tom Leino); son, Shane Fields (Michelle Fields); grandchildren: Jessi Turney (Peter Brook), Kiana Dusek, Serena and Zach Fields; sister, Dorothy Sizer; brother, Doug Fields; along with many nieces and nephews. We will miss your beautiful smile and hugs.

Services will be held Saturday, January 19, at Crosslake Lutheran Church, 35960 County Rd. 66, Crosslake, MN 56442. The visitation will be at 11 a.m. and memorial service at noon to be followed by a luncheon in which we invite friends and family to visit and share memories. In lieu of flowers Chuck would have liked donations to go to a cause that is dear to your heart.
