David Nelson has gone home to be with Our Lord and Savior, and those he loved so much on Thursday, November 5th, 2020.
One day when David was seventeen, his dad told him to get into the car. Upon arriving at the chosen destination, his dad leaned over and opened the door and said to go inside.
He was at the military recruiting office. What? He was shocked. Years later, David often said that was the best thing his Dad had ever done for him. The United States Air Force seemed to agree!
He very proudly served our country for twenty-seven years, six months, and twenty-one days.
David loved to share stories about his time in the Air Force. And what stories they were! Those around him were simply riveted as he told tales of places, the people in different countries and stories of where his travels would take him.
This time, on Thursday, God chose for his travels to take him home...a reward for a life well served, in a place He has prepared for him.
CMSGT David D. Nelson, thank you for your service!
David was born in January 1931, in Duluth, Minnesota.
Services will be 11 AM on Friday, November 13, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Burial with full military honors will follow at Norwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
