Gerald Sycks

Gerald Duane "Chum" Sycks, age 90, of Hackensack, MN, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
Chum was born on June 18, 1928, in Walker, MN, to Hazel (Burke) and Gerald Henry Sycks. He was united in marriage to June Nagel on January 22, 1956.

Chum began driving school bus while still attending the Hackensack High School and continued for over 45 years. He also worked construction during the summer months for many years and farmed, raising beef cattle, sheep and pigs. Chum had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that was infectious to everyone he knew. His hobbies included bird and deer hunting, working on his farm, and having coffee and lunch with his fellow bus drivers and friends. Chum was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Hackensack.

Chum will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Mike (Luanne) and Mark (Linda); and grandchildren, Catrina (Tyler) Foss, Mikayla (Ryan) Money, and Brandon Sycks. He was preceded in death by his wife, June; father, Gerald; mother, Hazel; and brother, Bob.

Services will be held at the 11 AM on Saturday, January l9 at Union Congregational Church with visitation starting one hour prior to the service.
