John Gleisner

John Daniel Gleisner, born August 25, 1933 to Edward and Lucy Gleisner, passed away suddenly on June 19, 2019 at his beloved home on Birch Lake in Hackensack, MN.

John met Betty Deinken in New Ulm, MN in the early 1960s. They were married on November 26, 1976. After a long career as an electrician, John retired from Local 343 I.B.E.W. in 1987. Betty also retired that year from 3M in New Ulm, MN and they made Birch Lake their year-round home, much to their enjoyment as well as that of their family and friends. During this time, John’s love of woodworking flourished, and his creations still grace many lake homes near and far.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a young sister; stepdaughter, Joanne; and son-in-law, Jon Reckner. He is survived by his wife, Betty; sister, Annabelle Schaeffer; brother, David; stepsons: Mike (Sharon) Deinken, Bruce (Mary) Deinken, Brian Deinken; stepdaughter, Bev (Bob) Pipkin; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hackensack. Visitation will be Monday, June 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Hackensack, MN Volunteer Fire Department.

Additional services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at MN Valley Funeral Home South Chapel in New Ulm, MN. Visitation starting at 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in St. George Catholic Cemetery, St. George, MN. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to St. George Catholic Church, St. George, MN.

Lunch will be served following both services.
