Kenneth Schuster

Kenneth W. Schuster, 89, of Pine River, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Home in Pine River. He was born May 2, 1918 in Kentland, IN to William and Mary (Datzman) Schuster. The family moved to the Pine River area in 1919. He served in the Army from 1941 - 1945 in the European area. Ken was a charter member of the American Legion #612. He married Doris Helm on June 17, 1950. They made Pine River their home. During this time Ken has owned Ken's Super Market (23 years). He was a partner in Johnson Lumber (2 years) and owned Coast To Coast (10 years). Ken was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; serving as an usher and council member. He was involved with the Chamber of Commerce and the City Council. After retirement Ken and Doris spent 12 winters in Arizona until that was no longer an option. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and brother William. He is survived by his wife Doris of 57 years, daughters JoAnn (Duane) Hoefs of Pequot Lakes and Janice (Jim) Terwilliger of Pillager, son Thomas of Brainerd, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, sister Donna (Derald) Watson of Brainerd, brothers Arthur of Pine River and Raymond of Hastings, 2 sisters in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 AM, Friday, Feb. 2 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pine River with Father Bruce Engen officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 PM with a rosary at 7:30 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River and one hour prior to the service at the church.
