Marian Audrey Eunice Chindvall, age 100, of Pine River, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Essentia St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Brainerd. She was born to Otto and Anna Gustafson on June 10, 1918, in Minneapolis. When WWII broke out Marian continued her insurance job while volunteering nights at General Hospital. There she received the training that would serve her future nursing aid positions. While Sunday School Superintendent at Messiah Lutheran Church she met Edward Chindvall, their new seminary intern. Marian and Edward were married in 1945. Over the years they raised six children and served six parishes in Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. They retired to Pine River in 1980 and were active in both the Swanburg and First Lutheran Churches. Marian enjoyed a very full life centered on her church activities and being Grandma to many, giving and receiving hugs at every opportunity.
Marian is survived by her children: Beth Anderson of Brainerd, Paul Chindvall (Michael) of St. Paul, Anne Chindvall of Ely, Lynn Stalker of Isle, David Chindvall (Heidi) of Chaska; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Edward Chindvall; son, John Chindvall; brothers, Vernon Gustafson and Donald Gustafson.
Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church, Pine River.
Services will be 12 Noon on Saturday, Dec. 29, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis.
