Marlys Sorg

April 15, 1931 — June 21, 2008

Marlys Lillian (Wynn) Sorg, age 77, of Pine River died Saturday, June 21, at the Good Samaritan Home in Pine River of cancer. Services will be 2 PM Wednesday, June 25 at Church of the Nazarene in Backus with Pastor Greg Baker officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marlys was born on April 15, 1931 in Pine River to Warner and Katie (White) Wynn. Marlys attended school in Pine River. On June 4, 1949, Marlys married Kenneth Lloyd Sorg. They had one son, Kenneth Sorg, Jr. Except for living a few years in Minneapolis, Marlys spent all of her life in Pine River. She was a housewife and loved to be outside. She enjoyed raising vegetables, feeding the birds, putting together jigsaw puzzles,and keeping up on weather trivia. Marlys was a great fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Marlys opened her home to her mother and provided care for her for many years.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years , Kenneth; her son Kenneth, Jr. and his wife Rhonda; two granddaughters, Heather Turner (Anthony) and Alyssa; two greatgrandsons, Jarred and Eli all of Pine River; brothers and sisters Katie Carroll of Minneapolis, Maymie Reed of Crystal, Freda Vanselow of Sauk Centre, Ardyce Osmonson of Backus, Judy Sandberg ( Jerry) of Pine River, Warner Junior Wynn (Marilyn) of Hackensack, James Wynn (Codi) of Backus, and Roger Wynn (Beth) of Pine River; and many nieces, nephews, grand- nieces and grand -nephews.
