Renee Hanning

Renee Hanning, 81, of Crosslake passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023, after an arduous and lengthy battle with cancer. She passed peacefully in the morning hours in the presence of loved ones.

Renee was born to Elwood and Irene Leeder, one of six children, and she lived a full life, having two boys of her own. Dedicated to her family, she was defined by a razor wit and a loving heart. She worked tirelessly her entire life and raised her family with pride and adoration. She was a proud servant of Our Lord and an ardent supporter of her community, sacrificing her time to her church and various local endeavors like Camp Knutson over the years. She leaves in her passing not only her grateful and loving family, but so many wonderful friends she made along the way. At the risk of sounding cliché, to know Renee was to love her.

Renee leaves behind her sons, John Cooper Hanning III and Stephen Hanning; grandchildren, Nathan, Sydney and Delany Hanning; sister, Eileen (Jim) Michalski; brothers, Ralph (Sharon) Leeder and Charles (Leanne) Leeder; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Marlene) Peterson and David Lindell; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Renee was preceded in death by husband, John Cooper Hanning, Jr.; parents, Elwood and Irene Leeder; in-laws, John Cooper Hanning, Sr. and Kathryn Hanning; sister, AJ Lindell; brother, Robert Leeder; sisters-in-law, Gail Peterson and Jane Leeder; daughter in-law, Kim Hanning and granddaughters, Katherine and Emma Hanning.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, July 19 and will be followed by a reception at 14 Lakes Brewery, 36846 County Rd 66 in Crosslake to honor the passing of both Renee and her husband, John Hanning, who passed a year and a half prior.

Thank you all for loving Renee as much as we do. She will live on in our hearts.
