Robert King

Bob King, age 81 of Backus, MN, passed away on July 17, 2018. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur, Minnesota. Following the graveside service, there will be a supper and reception at the United Methodist Church of Le Sueur. A brief remembrance will be held during the 10:00 a.m. worship service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, LCMS in Backus on Sunday, July 29.

Robert (Bob) Howard King was born March 15, 1937, in Le Sueur, MN, to Howard and Edna (Griep) King. After graduating from Le Sueur High School in 1955, he worked with his father at King Oil and the Massey-Ferguson implement dealership, King Implement in Le Sueur. Following this he spent several years as an OTR truck driver and then delivering for O’Connell Oil. After relocating to Backus, he drove buses for Reichert Bus Services and various local school districts. In recent years, until his death, he provided personal rides through Faith In Action.

Bob enjoyed camping and cards with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wrenching, welding, and overall fixing of anything he could get his hands on.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Susan King. He is survived by children Judy (Duane) Swenson, Steve (Wendy) King, Jim (Lori) King; grandchildren Jena King, Lydia (Nick) Swenson, Sarah King, and David King; sisters Carol (Dick) Ulrich and Janet (Harlan) Kugath; significant other Leona Krentz and her children Lyle (son Nathan) Krentz, Lynn (Chris) Paul (children Allison, Evan, Eric), Lisa (Jeremy) Tesch (sons Logan, Lucas); and many nieces and nephews.
