Rosella Oaks

Rosella “Freck” Oaks, age 91, of Pine River, and formerly White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Monday, February 11, 2019. She was born at the LaBore farmstead home in Gem Lake, MN, and was the sixth of eight children born to Duesty and Melina LaBore.

Freck was preceded in death by her parents; her 7 siblings; husband of 64 years, Larry, in 2013; daughter, Joni Frigaard, in 2012; son, Tom Oaks, in 2014; granddaughter, Jessica; and grandson, Troy. Her loving smile and friendly hello will be missed by her surviving ten children and their spouses as well as more than 40 grandchildren great grandchildren – and still counting.

Freck was always up for a game of cribbage or Carbles and was also a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins – she seldom missed a game.

Freck and Larry were married on August 20, 1949, and that was the beginning of their family journey, which brought them 12 children over the next 20 years in their home town of White Bear Lake. After buying a resort in 1970, Freck and Larry packed up 10 of the 12 children and moved to Nisswa in north central Minnesota. They lived the rest of their lives in and around Nisswa, enjoying the north woods life and raising children. Freck and Larry would both recall that some of their best times were spent just looking over the lake, however we also know that after claiming a winter home in South Texas where they could get away from snow and ice, they cherished the quiet snow-free winters of Texas just as much as the view of the northern lakes.

Goodbye, Mom and Grandma Freck! We’re going to miss you.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM on Monday, February 18, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River. Visitation will be at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, on Sunday from 1 to 3 PM, with a time of sharing at 2:30. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery, rural Pine River. Arrangements are by Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
