Roxanne "Roxy" Sawyer

Roxanne Marie Sawyer-Svaleson was born to Dagny and Alvin Svaleson in Hillsboro, ND, on November 15, 1962. She passed away peacefully with her children by her side at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo on January 20, 2024.  

Roxanne grew up in Hillsboro, ND, where she attended school and participated in gymnastics. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1981. She then met Richard Sawyer and they married on December 19, 1987 and moved to Pine River, MN.  She had 3 children whom she loved. She was loved by all she came in contact with.  Roxy loved rodeo, horses, Jesus, all things Christmas, and was a jokester to many.  She worked at the Pine River-Backus school as a paraprofessional and bus driver and also worked at the grocery store in Pine River for many years. She just recently moved to Jamestown, ND. 

Roxanne is survived by her sisters, Deanne Baker and Karen Dygert; children: Casey Sawyer, Ricky (Rachel) Sawyer and Jessica Sawyer; grandchildren: Willa, Zoey, Paisley, Finnegan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dagny and Alvin Svaleson; sister, Hedy Nagel-Svaleson; brother, Dwight Svaleson; grandson, Tritt Sawyer; nephews: Grant Sawyer, Bryce Mink and Gerald Foix.

Memorial services will be held at Riverview Church, Pine River MN. Sunday, February 4th. Visitation at 3 pm, memorial service at 4 pm, with luncheon to follow.
