Raymond Wolkenhauer

Raymond George Wolkenhauer, known to his loved ones as Ray, passed away on October 11, 2023, at the age of 93 in Pine River, Minnesota. Born on May 18, 1930, in Sauk Center, Minnesota, he was the fun-loving, kind and good-natured son of Elda and Herbert Wolkenhauer.

Ray proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force for four years. After his military service, he started a successful career as a machinist and foreman at Tort Manufacturing. Retiring from Tort Manufacturing, Ray embarked on his second career as a dairy farmer. After selling the farm in the early 90's, Ray enjoyed his partial retirement while keeping busy as a lawn maintenance professional for TruGreen ChemLawn.

When he wasn't working, Ray enjoyed indulging in his hobbies, which included woodworking, hunting, ice fishing, clock-making, yard work, and square dancing. These activities brought him joy and allowed him to express his creativity and love for the outdoors.

Ray was a faithful Christian and worshipped at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. His strong faith was an integral part of his life and provided him with comfort and guidance.

Ray was a beloved husband of 65 years to Galeen (Arneson) Wolkenhauer, a loving father to his favorite daughter, Janell and favorite son, Darrell (and favorite daughter-in-law, Tracy). He is also survived by his siblings May, Vern, Carol; his granddaughters: Jennifer, Jamie, Jessica, and Cassandra; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Emil and Donald; and his sisters: Leora “Lee”, Leona “Teena”, LaVonne and Bernice.

A memorial service to celebrate Ray's life will be held on Tuesday, October 17th, at 11 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, MN. Ray will be remembered for his mischievous spirit, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
