Scott Peterson

April 26, 1959 — February 8, 2022

Scott Peterson died Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home in Pine River, Minnesota. He was 62 years old.

Scott Howard Peterson was born on April 26, 1959, in Olivia, Minnesota to parents, Howard Duane Peterson and Eva Marie (Taylor) Peterson. From an early age, people were drawn to Scott and his charismatic personality. This quality marked his life. Anywhere Scott went, if he didn’t have a friend when he got there, he had a new one when he left. Whenever anyone needed a helping hand, Scott was always first on the scene and more than willing to help.

His friendly manner is also what made him succeed in his work life. Scott worked for Freeze Dry Corporation for over 30 years. There, his customers were more than just customers to him, they quickly became his friends. Scott also spent about eight years as a volunteer firefighter with Ideal Township Fire Department, where the annual beef feed was one of the highlights of his summers.

Scott married three times. When he was young, he had a brief marriage to Lorie Froslie. Later, he married Sherry Mattinen and together they had a son, who was the pride of their lives, Dallas John Peterson, known to many as D.J. Finally, Scott married the love of his life, Kathy Barr. Kathy brought two adult sons and a loving extended family into their marriage. Scott adored them all.

When Scott wasn’t working, he loved riding his Harley, fishing, hunting, and chatting with anyone who would join him. He was an excellent cook and loved to be the host to family and friends. The kitchen was where Scott was most at home.

Scott will be deeply missed by those who loved him. He is survived by, his son, Dallas Peterson; father, Howard Peterson; sisters, Loni Porta and Kim Terhaar; former wife, Kathy Peterson; stepsons, Geoff (Alexa) Barr and Tony Barr; nephews, Tyler (Kristine) Johnson and Tanner (Stephanie) Johnson; nieces, Brittany (Phillip) Werner, Molly Porta and Megan Porta (Fiancé Brody Geisler); great nephews and niece, Reid, Will and Eva Johnson; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his loyal companion, his yellow lab, Smudge.

A funeral will be held March 5th, 2022 at First Lutheran Church in Pine River at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Please join us following the service for lunch at the Old Milwaukee Club, Ideal Corners. Let’s share our favorite memories and celebrate Scott’s life.
