Sherry Savage

Sherry Lynn (Sarff) Savage, 69, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on March 17, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Corona, California in the year 1954. Her father, Mr. Eugene H. Sarff, was a technical sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, and eventually married Joan Shirley Schmidt, from Pequot Lakes, MN. Sherry was the eldest of three siblings. They traveled, and lived, throughout the whole United States, even being stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska for a time.

After returning home to Minnesota, Sherry met a man named William Savage, and they were married on July 5th, 1975. They had two daughters together, Elise & Laurie.

Sherry was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, helped with VBS, sang in the choir, played in the bell choir, and volunteered us girls for things we weren’t excited about.  She worked at Echo Publishing for over 20 years, in the “back room”, and as a graphic designer, and her girls helped her there quite often as well. She also worked at Super America in Pequot Lakes, back when all the kids would gather and hangout in the old IGA parking lot. Mom became an honorary member of the “cool kids” club, because all the kids loved talking to her, and sharing the latest gossip in town.

Her later years were spent helping elderly friends get to and from appointments and helping our dad, Bill, with the same. Her selflessness was always on display. She kept in touch with her dearest friends, throughout many years, many of whom she met while living at the different bases her dad was stationed at. Those of you that she considered a friend- she always had a way of reminding you how important and loved you were by her, with the random note or card in the mail, or the flower bouquets showing up at your workplace.

Her beautiful life will forever be remembered by her daughters, Elise (Justin) Savage and Laurie (Todd) Savage, both of Pequot Lakes, MN, niece Kayla (Preston & Theia) Anderson of Waite Park, MN, nephew Mike Hecimovich, many loving aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, and many dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Savage, her father and mother, Gene and Joan Sarff, her brother Steven Sarff, sister Linda Hecimovich, and uncle, Alan Schmidt.

A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.
