Cecil Coolidge

Cecil Coolidge of Brainerd passed away at Essentia St. Joseph’s Medical Center on January 17, 2022, at the age of 85. He was the youngest of 4 born to Ruth and Robert Coolidge in Yarnell, WI, in 1936. At the age of 18 he joined the Army, serving time in Germany. After his discharge, he moved to Brainerd where he met and married Cecil (Palmer) Kyllingstad on February 23, 1963, and together they had 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. After his first wife’s death in 1987, he spent many years alone until meeting Elizabeth Whittemore. They married on June 4, 2013 and had 7 happy years together until her passing in 2021.

Cecil had a love of flowers, gardening and enjoyed raising canaries. He looked forward to spending time with family, listening to old country music and just a ride in the country gave him pleasure.

Cecil will be sadly missed by his daughters: Jean (Kevin) Banick, Joan (Brian) Hines, both of Brainerd, Ruth (Scott) Ciha of Backus; sister, Carmen Allen of Arizona; and his many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; and brothers, Donald and Kenneth.

The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
