Donna Schnoor

May 4, 1936 — May 28, 2021

Donna Mae Schnoor, 85, went to her heavenly home on Friday, May 28, 2021, in Rockford, IL. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Donna was a woman of devout faith. She was a strong believer in the power of prayer and in the grace of the Lord.

Donna was born in Winterset, IA to Claude and Essie (Snyder) Drake on May 4th, 1936. She was married to Emery Henry Schnoor on November 12th, 1952. Donna and Emery started their life together in St. Charles, IA on a farm where they had ten children. In 1969, they moved to Pine River, MN and started a new farm where they had an additional three children. Donna stayed in Pine River, MN for the remainder of her life. In addition to her children and in-laws, Donna’s motherly warmth and kindness was experienced by not only her family, but everyone who met her many would refer to her as “Mother”.

Donna (Grandma) became a grandmother in 1978 and poured all her faith and love into her thirty-five grandchildren as well as her twenty-two great-grandchildren ever since. She would regularly take her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to church with her on Saturdays or read scripture to them on days when services were missed. She would play worship music and sing enthusiastically while spending time in the kitchen with her children and later her grandchildren.

Donna was an avid card player. She was competitive, talented, and grace-filled in her approach to the various card games she played. She loved teaching all the family members different games, no matter their age or talent. Grandma maintained a very large garden, one that served her twelve children and had plenty to give away to friends and neighbors. Grandma was a warm host to anyone who stopped by, especially to unexpected friends and family. Grandma loved to slip in a prank here and there; this was especially shocking out in public where she would appear to be the innocent bystander and her fellow patrons would be blamed for her car horn honking or whistling.

Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, you are missed beyond what words can express. You will always remain in our hearts and we find peace in knowing you are with your heavenly Father.
