Gary Owen Brunes, 78, of Nisswa, passed in his sleep on February 13, 2021. He was born to James and Allison Brunes on June 16, 1942. 

Gary is survived by his children: Kari (Jim) Dixon, Mikhail (Emily) Brunes, Kaitlyn Brunes, and Emily Withers; 7 grandchildren: Maya Brunes, Walter Dixon, Alivia Rardin, Elizabeth Rardin, Valerie Rardin, Cassidy Rardin, and Greta Brunes; 2 great grandchildren, Lucas and Grace. Gary Owen Brunes, 78, of Nisswa, passed in his sleep on February 13, 2021. He was born to James and Allison Brunes on June 16, 1942. 

Gary is survived by his children: Kari (Jim) Dixon, Mikhail (Emily) Brunes, Kaitlyn Brunes, and Emily Withers; 7 grandchildren: Maya Brunes, Walter Dixon, Alivia Rardin, Elizabeth Rardin, Valerie Rardin, Cassidy Rardin, and Greta Brunes; 2 great grandchildren, Lucas and Grace. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Allison Brunes; his brothers, Bruce and Eric Brunes; son, Jeremy Brunes; and several aunts and uncles.

Gary was an avid bookworm, outdoorsman, and longtime member of the Minnesota R.O.V.E.R.S. outdoors group. He had a passion for any activity outside: rock climbing (he reached the top of Devils Tower at least 20 times), skiing, skating, swimming, fishing, hunting, boating, canoeing, and if he hadn't done it before then YES he wanted to try it. He loved to plan the excursions and pack extra clothes and gear for everyone involved which saved the day countless times for many people.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
