Jacqueline Becker

April 11, 1934 — February 28, 2022

Jacqueline (Lenk) Becker, 87, of Crosslake, MN, died on Feb. 28, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Pine River, MN.

Jackie Becker was born in Port Huron, Michigan on April 11, 1934, the daughter of Charlie and Emma (Bryce) Lenk. She graduated from high school in Marysville, MI, in 1952, and received a bachelor’s degree in English from Michigan State College.

A Michigan native, she moved to Indiana after marrying Robert Becker, DVM, in 1957. They were married for 60 years. He worked as a veterinarian, and she helped with the practice. Together they raised four children: Marla (Harry) Sullivan; Chuck (Debbie) Becker; Phil (Jodie, deceased) Becker, and Amy LaFrance. There are nine grandchildren: Abbie Sullivan, Joshua Becker, Katie (Brian) Shaw, David Sullivan, Ginger Becker, Vincent Becker, Bridget Becker, Margaret Becker, and Morgan Becker. There are three great-grandchildren.

Jackie and her family moved to a cattle ranch near Nimrod, Minnesota in 1976, and to Crosslake, MN in 1988.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Keith Lenk, brother-in-law Charles William “Bud” Becker, and sister-in-law Mary Sue Becker. She is survived by sister-in-law Louise (Bud) Becker, as well as her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Family was her focus and her joy, from Fourth of July picnics at their home on Big Trout Lake to extended family holiday gatherings and even larger family reunions. Jackie pursued many hobbies with enthusiasm and skill, including sewing, gardening, cooking, playing bridge, euchre, and Scrabble, bird-watching, and collaborating with her woman’s investment club.

Jackie and Bob traveled the world together and had fond memories of trips to Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia, Peru, and Nepal, among other adventures. Jackie was involved in organizations such as the National Cattleman’s Beef Association, the Lion’s Club, and Rotary. She was a dedicated Rotarian and a top seller in the annual Rotary rose sale fund-raiser for many years.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 26, at Riverview Church, 310 Norway Ave., Pine River, MN, with a 10 am visitation, 11 am service, and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any memorials be made to the Rotary Foundation (https://www.rotary.org/en/donate) in honor of Jackie Becker (notification can be emailed to: ablafrance@gmail.com).
