Jeannine Hemmerich, age 84, passed away on August 15, 2021 at her home on Roy Lake in Nisswa, MN, with hospice care following two strokes.

Jeannine Hemmerich was born September 19, 1936 to Harry and Inga Eklund in Morris, Minnesota. She attended Morris High School through her sophomore year when her family moved to Park Rapids graduating in 1954 from the Park Rapids High School. Jeannine was an active 4H member receiving the Minnesota 4-H Key Award in 1955 and earning many trips to the Minnesota State Fair. She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone in Park Rapids. She married Earl Hemmerich on September 14, 1957. Earl began employment with Park Region Timber in Brainerd and he and Jeannine moved to Brainerd. Jeannine continued to work for Northwestern Bell. They moved to their current residence on Roy Lake in Nisswa in May of 1961. Jeannine discontinued out of home full-time employment to raise their four children. Jeannine was employed in a variety of cleaning positions in the Nisswa area as well as playground and lunchroom supervisor at the Nisswa Elementary School for nearly 20 years and sales and inventory at Nisswa Marine for 22 years. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Pequot Lakes. She was a long time Sunday School teacher, held various officer positions within the Ladies Guild and was the secretary of the local AAL/Thrivent Chapter for many years. She also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Campfire Girls Leader while her children were involved. She also served on the Lakes Area Food Shelf Board of Directors. Jeannine was a supporter of activities that her children and grandchildren were involved in including Nisswa Fire Department, Mounted Eagles Therapeutic Horsemanship and the Nisswa Black Bear 4H Club attending many of their events. She also worked closely with her husband developing real estate throughout north central Minnesota. Jeannine will be remembered as a hardworking, kindhearted, and friendly woman who was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

Jeannine is survived by husband, Earl; two sons, Michael (Kim) of Nisswa, Robert of Winona; two daughters, Lynn (Michael) Fairbanks of Nisswa and Renee Iverson of Pine River; six grandchildren: Candace (Eric) Rolstad, Crista (Kyle) Peterson, Michael Hemmerich, Justin Fairbanks, Sarah (Dominic) Plantamura and Zachary Iverson; one great granddaughter, Addy Peterson; brothers/sisters-in- law: Leonard Hemmerich, Addie Hemmerich, Marlene Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Inga Eklund; eight sisters: Nettie Boettcher, Elma Lesmeister, Lillian Lesmeister, Lauretta Kill, Irene Hoffman, Marilyn Wilson, Audrey Haugland, Bernadine Farl; numerous brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes, MN, with Reverend Mark Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Memorials will be donated to Mounted Eagles Therapeutic Horsemanship.
