Mary Lee Kerger

November 27, 1936 — March 27, 2022

Mary Lee (Yearous) Kerger passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 27, surrounded by family. She was born to Albion and Beulah Yearous on November 27, 1936. Mary Lee spent her childhood years growing up on the family farm being spoiled by her parents and tormented by her brothers. She attended Balaton School where she graduated in 1955. She met her future husband and love Gene ‘Bud’ Kerger, through mutual friends. They were married on December 9, 1955.

Bud and Mary Lee welcomed son, Kraig, and then relocated to Pequot Lakes in 1959. Daughter, Leah, was born a few years later. Daughter, Krystal, and son, Mike, rounded out their family tree.

Mary Lee worked in various customer service positions while raising her children, most remember her for her time waitressing at Oasis. She then spent most of her time with her grandchildren. Mary Lee enjoyed coffee with the gals, getting her hair and nails done, and short or long trips to the casino. She loved to laugh, to tell stories and rock babies. Mary Lee always had sweet treats on her counter and liked to be in the know of whatever was happening. She had a green thumb and could get plants to stay alive and flowers to bloom in the oddest times.

Mary Lee is survived by her husband, Gene “Bud” Kerger; brother, Gene Yearous; sister in-law, Virginia; children: Kraig, Krystal (Sam) Lyonais, Michael (Del Ria); son-in-law, Galen Carlson; grandchildren: Jory (Megan), Jenna (Garrett), Brianna (Brian), Courtney (Joe), Valorie, Zack, Mikyla, Keean, Corissa, Aisley, and Payslyn; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albion and Beulah; brother, Delmar; sister-in-law, Merlie; daughter, Leah; and great granddaughter, Violet.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 2 at 11 am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
